Mobilising private capital to accelerate climate solutions where they're needed most.

Innovative blended finance structures hold immense potential to drive climate action in developing economies, yet many struggle to move from concept to implementation. The Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility) transforms market-ready structures into investable solutions that can be standardised, replicated, and scaled across developing markets.

Filling the gap between innovation and investment

The CC Facility addresses a critical market need by accelerating the launch and scale-up of blended climate finance structures that mobilise private capital for climate action in developing economies. These aren't theoretical frameworks. They're market-ready solutions designed to channel investment towards high-impact climate structures in the regions facing the most urgent challenges.

By supporting these structures at a pivotal stage, the CC Facility helps proven approaches become investable realities, creating pathways for private capital to flow where it can drive the most significant transformation.

Building momentum through strategic acceleration

Every blended finance structure faces a crucial moment when it transitions from design to deployment. The CC Facility focuses on this precise inflection point, providing targeted support to innovative climate structures ready to launch and scale in developing countries.

Grantees receive up to USD 500,000 to accelerate their implementation, alongside the credibility and validation that comes from being part of a vetted portfolio. This approach recognises that the right support at the right time can be the difference between a promising structure remaining unrealised and becoming a replicable model for climate finance.

A bold trajectory towards systemic change

The ambition driving this work is substantial. The goal is raising USD 100 million of catalytic donor capital to accelerate the launch of blended finance structures closing the climate financing gap. This target reflects both the scale of the opportunity and the confidence in what strategic acceleration can achieve.
Reaching this milestone would create the conditions for widespread replication, turning individual successes into systematic approaches that fundamentally reshape how private capital flows towards climate solutions in developing economies.

Designing digital infrastructure for quality and impact

The CC Facility recognised early that attracting genuinely market-ready structures required more than processing applications. It needed a digital presence that could build credibility, showcase proven impact, and guide quality applicants through a robust vetting process.

We designed and developed their website and platform with this dual purpose in mind. The experience needed to advocate for excellence whilst demonstrating what accelerating finance in the right areas can achieve. Through strategic information architecture and purposeful user journeys, the platform now serves as both a gateway for viable structures and a showcase of successful implementations. This digital foundation helps the CC Facility attract applications that meet their criteria whilst building the leverage and credibility essential for mobilising private capital at scale.

The result is a platform that reflects the rigour of the initiative itself, connecting the right structures with the support they need whilst strengthening the CC Facility's position within the climate finance ecosystem.

Progress taking shape

Since launch, the platform has enabled the CC Facility to invest in 11 market-ready blended climate finance structures, awarding USD 4.4 million to projects that began their journey through the application process. Each structure that passed through the vetting system has gone on to drive substantial private investment into climate action across developing economies. The Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund, which applied through the platform, now builds climate resilience for over 2 million smallholder farmers in East Africa. Climate Investor One, another successful applicant, has mobilised more than USD 800 million in private capital for renewable energy through 23 projects across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The portfolio demonstrates what becomes possible when the right digital infrastructure connects innovative finance approaches with targeted support. ResponAbility's Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Fund, validated through the platform's robust application process, has channelled USD 850 million towards clean energy projects in emerging markets, avoiding 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually whilst providing electricity to over 5 million people. Each structure that entered through the platform now represents a proven model with potential for replication, transforming individual applications into scalable pathways for climate finance in developing economies.

The Path Ahead

The trajectory remains focused on the original ambition of continued progress towards USD 100 million in catalytic donor capital, accelerating the launch and scale-up of blended finance structures that close the climate financing gap in developing economies.

Each structure supported, each dollar mobilised, and each replication of a successful model contributes to building an ecosystem where innovative climate finance becomes standardised practice rather than exceptional achievement. That's the opportunity ahead. Transforming how private capital flows towards climate solutions where they're needed most, one accelerated structure at a time.
