Community Action

We believe in working together with others who share similar values and goals. Being part of communities helps us learn, stay accountable, and contribute to raising standards across our industry.

Our B Corp certification connects us with businesses that prioritise impact alongside profit. As co-chair of B Local for the South Coast of England, we help coordinate regional B Corp activities and support local businesses working toward certification. Through networks like the SME Climate Hub and 1% for the Planet, we work alongside organisations committed to environmental responsibility and giving back.

As part of Design Declares, Clean Creatives, and the Ethical Design Network, we collaborate with creatives who think design should serve people and planet rather than just commercial interests. Communities like Creatives for Climate and Agencies for Good help us explore how our industry can contribute to meaningful change.

We're involved with The Conduit, The Project, and Dovetail, spaces that bring together people working on social and environmental challenges. Networks like the Ethical Agencies Alliance and Better Business Network help us connect with others who believe what happens inside a business matters just as much as the work that comes out of it. The Better Business Act represents our shared commitment to advocating for systemic change in how business operates.

These communities reflect our belief that there's strength in working collaboratively toward social, environmental, and economic goals together. They help us stay connected to the broader movement of people and organisations working to create positive change, sharing knowledge and supporting each other's growth.

Through these networks, we can contribute to better standards of practice while learning from others who are tackling similar challenges. It's about building something bigger than what any of us could achieve alone.

Diversity & Inclusion

As a business grounded in equality and diversity, Driftime® establishes inclusion in our working environment, hiring, clients, partners, suppliers and creative practices. We look to lead by example, guided by values of fair and considered representation, whilst acknowledging the need for faster and more efficient methods of addressing disadvantage and marginalisation in both business and wider society. Driftime® is unreservedly committed to honouring the nine “protected characteristics” detailed in the Equality Act 2010 (opens in a new window), engaging directly with clients, partners, employees and suppliers to respond appropriately to any reasonable adjustments or access requirements.

As a partly minority-owned business, Driftime® looks to reflect the diversity of society whilst enacting the relevant procedures to resolve any potential issues brought to light. In establishing the behaviour expected in compliance with our policies, principles, and practice, we actively challenge prejudice and would take immediate and appropriate action should any situation or behaviour deviate from our outlook. In taking measures to remove unnecessary barriers and limits that minorities face in the workplace, we support our employees and clients without bias, monitoring and reviewing our actions and listening to feedback from employees, clients, partners, suppliers and the wider community.

For Driftime®, equality is not just a mark of a reputable business, but a moral imperative that informs who we work and collaborate with. Diversity and inclusion are priorities we do not compromise on, looking towards consistent and effective improvement and development in our policy and practice.

Social & Environmental

Driftime® advocates for sustainable and responsible actions in all business procedures. In taking the time to review our own output in relation to our ecological outlook, we recognise our contribution and hold ourselves accountable for our actions, regularly reviewing how we can reduce our impact. Our attitude has consistently been principle over profit, making business decisions that benefit all parties, including the wider environment. We take pride in the steps we take towards considered and sustainable travel, design, and tech, and continue to educate ourselves on carbon-offsetting and efficient methods of optimising an achievable, healthy, and positive environmental and social practice.

In addition to our commitment to improving our wider environmental impact, we act on a micro level in order to facilitate a sustainable working environment. By using minimal resources through digital, editorial, and web-based work, Driftime® places limits on unnecessary waste for optimum efficiency. We use 100% green and/or renewable energy to power both our primary place of work and our websites, whilst actively looking into reducing and balancing the amount of CO2 our websites generate through offsetting with Trees for Life (opens in a new window). To action our commitment, we will be signing the Web Sustainability Manifesto (opens in a new window), and will be giving 1% of our annual turnover back through 1% for the Planet (opens in a new window). To further our conditions for a sustainable work space, we educate and inform our staff on the importance of a considered lifestyle that prioritises the environment, encouraging minimal travel and healthy choices wherever possible.

In actively recognising our impact on the environment, our clients, partners, colleagues, and employees trust, understand, and share our principles and ecological practice. We choose to incorporate environmental factors into our business decisions, and integrate green actions into our fundamental message. In doing so, we look to engage with like-minded clients, partners and staff, whilst continuing to improve and monitor our environmental performance.

Ethics & Transparency

We believe that communication is the root of proper business. Transparency is a crucial aspect of a healthy and balanced professional relationship, something we exercise ourselves and expect from others. We look to work with clients and partners who share our ethical philosophy and actively pursue connections with like-minded people. Driftime® establishes and maintains a narrative of honesty, trust, and integrity through our ethical and commercial good practice, a means of positive motivation for both ourselves and the people we work with.

Driftime® welcomes questions about our process and services, we are clear about our methods and practice with our clients, partners, colleagues, and employees. We look to assert a corporate commitment to transparency in our ethical practice, including our actions and collaboration with others. Driftime® historically and consistently demonstrates an active investment in sharing skills and knowledge and offering advice to others without expecting return. We do meaningful work that goes beyond standard business relationships, creating long lasting and important connections that serve all parties.

An effective business strategy involves a comprehensive insight into procedure, exacting a balanced correspondence that initiates a clear and honest dialogue between all involved. We are fully committed to ethical and transparent business, and pride ourselves on our non-negotiable high standards.

Civic Engagement & Giving

Beyond our network involvement, we actively contribute to professional development and organisational growth through direct engagement and strategic support initiatives.

We focus on supporting emerging talent through structured mentorship programs, drawing from our extensive experience in guiding creative professionals toward their career objectives. Our involvement with The Girls Network and ADPList reflects our commitment to expanding opportunities for underrepresented groups in design and business, creating pathways for professional growth that might not otherwise exist.

During periods of organisational challenge or resource constraint, we provide strategic pro bono support to purpose-driven organisations that align with our values. This approach enables us to deploy our expertise where it can create the most meaningful difference, supporting work that advances social and environmental objectives through professional creative services.

As co-chair of B Local for the South Coast of England, we coordinate regional activities that support local businesses pursuing B Corp certification. This role involves facilitating knowledge sharing, providing strategic guidance on certification processes, and creating collaborative opportunities that strengthen the regional impact business community.

We regularly provide consultation and strategic advice to organisations navigating complex creative and business challenges. Through our client relationships and community connections, we gather insights that inform how we can most effectively support other businesses in their growth and impact journeys.

Our approach to civic engagement emphasises knowledge transfer and capacity building within the creative industry. We actively share insights from our work to help elevate professional standards and practices, contributing to an industry culture that prioritises both creative excellence and positive social impact.

This direct engagement complements our broader community involvement, creating multiple pathways for supporting the growth and development of individuals and organisations working toward meaningful change. Through both formal networks and direct professional relationships, we contribute to building a stronger, more collaborative creative industry that serves people and planet effectively.

Partner Care & Standards

Driftime® works internationally, interacting with many agencies, companies, and businesses from all over the globe. We care for all our clients and partners with the same respect and esteem that we afford our own business, practising impartiality and fairness at every stage of our work. We perform personal and professional excellence, confident in our ability to meet and exceed expectations of our clients, partners, and colleagues.

We regularly check-in with our employees through weekly stand-up’s, quarterly check-in’s and 6 monthly reviews. We also adopt a similar approach with our clients through bi-weekly stand-up’s to help understand and resolve any concerns or difficulties they may have, providing a safe space for everyone involved to air any grievances. Driftime® hopes to facilitate a responsible, considerate, and caring environment, for both the benefit of the business, our employees, extended staff, and the people we work with.

As a minority-owned business, we aim to support other founders, owners, and businesses for underserved peoples in similar light. We use a matrix and cross-subsidisation model to allow our skills, expertise and resource to be accessible to such businesses, whether that be financially constrained organisations serving the underserved, or independent minority owned businesses.

We additionally have indemnity insurance, giving our clients further peace of mind should any problems arise in unusual circumstances.

Following the completion of any project, Driftime® obtain a signed declaration of completion, along with a request for feedback via a feedback form. Quarterly follow up meetings are arranged with the client for a year to ensure OKR’s are being met and they are working towards the level of impact they are trying to create.

We operate with transparent processes and give full visibility to our client partners using an accessible Notion Dashboard. We hold a bi-weekly internal retrospective meeting in relation to each project with the aim to improve our processes, services and how we can give further support to our team and client partners.

Use of AI

Our experience with AI has been mixed, which feels about right for technology that's evolving so quickly. We find it useful for tasks like refining tone, simplifying communication, summarising information, research, and generating images. When AI contributes to our work, we make sure to credit it openly.

We think AI can help us stay current with creative and technological developments, but we prioritise human creativity and continuous learning. AI can save time and free us up for other important work, but it's a tool rather than a replacement for human insight and judgement.

We try to be transparent about when and how we use AI in our work. This means crediting AI-generated or AI-assisted content clearly and explaining how AI tools influence our outputs when it's relevant for our clients or collaborators to understand.

While we find AI helpful for enhancing our work, we keep developing our team's skills and regularly review our AI practices against ethical, legal, and environmental considerations. We watch for potential issues like bias and misinformation, and work to stay compliant with data protection regulations including GDPR and the EU AI Act.

We're mindful of the environmental impact of AI tools and try to use them thoughtfully to minimise unnecessary digital consumption. Our AI practices evolve as the technology and regulations develop, and we welcome conversations about how to use these tools more responsibly.

We review our approach regularly, adapting to new developments and feedback from the people we work with. It's an ongoing conversation rather than a fixed position.
